South Sudan

Kevin is flying to South Sudan this morning. While not really on our radar as a potential next step for our family, our mission is considering the possibility of starting a team in this remote and needy location. What would that look like? Which people group lives there and are they interested in what we have to offer? What type of ministries could we do? On which needs would we focus? What infrastructure is on the ground already? How peaceful/stable is the area? Is there safe and available water? What’s the weather like? What types of foods are and aren’t available? Is this a place for an all singles “extreme” team or could a family with young children survive there? What is the healthcare and educational situation? Is there an existing church? All these and more questions are swirling around our team as we pray and think through the implications of starting to work in South Sudan. Kevin, Michael, Karen, Jennifer, Pat, Kim and Bethany are all headed up there today for three days to investigate the area and learn as much as they can. Please keep them in your prayers. Kev’s birthday is tomorrow. I am excited that he will get to spend it in South Sudan… just wish we were all together to celebrate.
